Background

SNKAI or the National Seminar on Analytical Chemistry and Instrumentation for Indonesian Chemical Society (HKI) was first held in 2012. It was held at the Jakarta Convention Center, in collaboration with the Lab Indonesia. The largest laboratory equipment exhibition in Indonesia started in 2010, two years earlier, and carried out every 2 years. The HKI Central Board gave a mandate to the Jakarta Branch HKI for its implementation, after the signing of the HKI collaboration and the Lab Indonesia – HKI Jakarta, in the end, it established cooperation with institutions around Jakarta. At SNKAI-2012, partners included AKA Bogor, LIPI, UI, UIN Jakarta, and UNJ. Because the HKI Analytical and Instrumentation Chemistry Division was formed during SNKAI-2012, and its chairman, Prof. Dr. Edison Munaf (deceased) was elected at SNKAI-2014, so the next seminar was decided to be the responsibility of this division in terms of science. The chair of the chosen division will coordinate with the Jakarta Branch HKI for the next seminar. After two implementations, SNKAI-2012 and SNKAI-2014, in 2016 the seminar changed its name to the Indonesian Conference on Chemical Analysis and Instrumentation (ICCAI), which remains in collaboration with Lab Indonesia. In 2018, ICCAI in conjunction with Asianalysis XIV was held in Jakarta in which IPB University joined the organizing committee and is still in collaboration with Lab Indonesia. Taking the theme of “The role of Analytical Chemistry and Instrumentation to Improve Education, Research and Industry”, the seventh ICCAI will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Science and technology have an important role in national development, the progress of the nation and the welfare of society in the world. Changes and developments in human needs require innovation that can improve the quality of human life. Research institutions and universities as suppliers of innovation in science have an important role to play in supporting this. Mastery of knowledge is expected to improve the economy and welfare of society, therefore there is a need to improve the quality of education, research, and relations between industry as users of knowledge and researchers at research institutions/universities.

Considering the benefits obtained by seminar participants, in 2024, the Indonesian Chemical Association (HKI) in collaboration with UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), Politeknik AKA Bogor, Institut Pertanian Bogor, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Pertamina, and BRIN intends to hold the seventh Indonesia Conference on Chemical Analysis and Instrumentation (ICCAI) with the theme “The role of Analytical Chemistry and Instrumentation to Improve Education, Research and Industry”. This conference is expected to facilitate knowledge exchange between academics, researchers and industry practitioners.

Objectives

The main objectives of this conference are:

  1. As a communication forum between researchers, academicians, and industry practitioners to exchange information and experiences to improve the quality of education, research, and industrial competitiveness, especially in the field of analytical chemistry and instrumentation.
  2. With continuous communication, it is expected that researchers, academics, and industry practitioners can solve problems and create innovations in the field of analytical chemistry and instrumentation by utilizing the expertise, networks, and facilities available in each institution.
  3. Dissemination of research results to increase industry value added.
